Day 1: Victoria to Bamfield – Gravel Grinding & Coastal Charm
Kick off your adventure in Victoria and head west, transitioning onto the gravel roads that will define this tour.
Navigate the scenic backroads, enjoying the solitude and the challenge of the terrain.
Arrive in Bamfield, a remote fishing village nestled on the edge of Barkley Sound. Enjoy fresh seafood at a local eatery and soak in the coastal atmosphere. Overnight in Bamfield.
Day 2: Bamfield to Port Alberni – Backroad Bliss & Base Camp Comforts
Continue your journey along the gravel roads, exploring the diverse landscapes between Bamfield and Port Alberni.
Immerse yourself in the tranquility of the forests and keep an eye out for wildlife.
Arrive in Port Alberni, a hub for outdoor activities and a gateway to the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. Explore the local area with port Alberni as our basecamp. Overnight in Port Alberni.
From this point onwards we’ll dive into the North Island 1000 routes. We’ll focus on sections suitable for adventure motorcycles as we explore the network of gravel roads, discovering hidden lakes, stunning viewpoints, and old-growth forests. We'll pack a picnic lunch to enjoy amidst the wilderness. Overnight in Coal Harbour.
Day 3: Coastal Majesty & Fishing Dreams - Coal Harbour
Ride north along the coast, transitioning back onto the pavement for a stretch.
Enjoy the scenic coastal highway, with glimpses of the ocean and the rugged shoreline.
Overnight in Coal Harbour, a small community on the northern tip of Vancouver Island, known for its beautiful harbour and excellent fishing opportunities.
Try your luck at fishing in the harbour or join a local fishing charter for a deeper sea adventure.
Day 4: Coal Harbour & North Island Exploration – Gravel & Coastal Views
Spend the day exploring the area around Coal Harbour, utilizing more of the North Island 1000 routes to discover hidden gems and scenic viewpoints.
Combine gravel roads with coastal stretches, enjoying the best of both worlds.
Consider hiking to a scenic overlook or exploring a nearby beach.
Return to Coal Harbour for your final night in this remote part of the world.
Day 5: Campbell River to Victoria.
Ride south from Coal Harbour with a stop for lunch in Campbell River.
From Campbell River, begin your journey back to Victoria, primarily on paved roads. We’ll be taking the scenic route along the coast where possible.
Reflect on your incredible adventure as you make your way back to Victoria, filled with memories of gravel roads, stunning scenery, and coastal experiences.
This adventure is designed to be ridden on Adventure Bikes, but we welcome larger CC dual sport bikes.
